Mobile money has penetrated the market in rural Africa to a significant extent and financial inclusion is improving. However, one fourth of the population has no access to formal financial services.

By combining statistical approaches with systematic evidence from qualitative comparative analysis and qualitative case studies in an innovative multi-method research design, we show that climate-related disasters increase the risk of armed conflict onset.
