As part of the discussions of the shared vision of long‐term action under the AWG‐LCA a number of Parties have proposed a global goal reflecting a temperature level (e.g. 1.5 or 2 degrees). This goal is also being proposed as part of discussions on how to set targets for Annex I Parties post‐2012 under the Kyoto Protocol.
For many years the European Union has been calling for a limit to global warming to 2oC above preindustrial. In 2008, AOSIS and LDCs called for this limit to stay well below 1.5°C above preindustrial levels. This document is a summary of all the Parties who have called for a limit of 1.5°C or 2°C warming above pre‐industrial levels.
