Dr Lennart Quante

Lennart joined Climate Analytics as a climate data analyst in September 2025. He studies agricultural risks, examining the impact of climate hazards on agricultural production and food prices. He also contributes to loss and damage assessments for Pacific island countries and financial risk assessments for the NGFS.

Drawing on his interdisciplinary experience in scientific modelling and data analysis, Lennart aims to improve the representation of socioeconomic inequality (e.g. by income) and economic activity across sectors in climate impact and risk studies at a scale ranging from the local to the global. He also examines how these dynamics interact with the financial system. This is underpinned by his day-to-day work processing and interpreting climate and hazard datasets, which forms the empirical basis for the aforementioned socioeconomic and financial analyses.

Prior to joining Climate Analytics, Lennart obtained his PhD with distinction from the Potsdam Institute for Climate Impact Research and the University of Potsdam. During his research, he investigated the heterogeneous impacts of extreme weather events on supply chains. His work has been published in journals such as Nature Sustainability.

Lennart also holds a Bachelor's degree in Mathematics from the University of Münster and a Master's degree in Financial and Insurance Mathematics from the University of Munich.
