Samuel Guéret joined Climate Analytics in October 2024 as Climate and Energy Policy Analyst within the Climate Policy Team. He contributes to projects focusing on Australia and the Asia-Pacific region, including developing LEAP energy models for the phase-out of gas and coal in alignment with 1.5°C compatible pathways.
Before joining Climate Analytics, Samuel worked as a researcher at the International Institute for Applied Systems Analysis (IIASA), where he conducted research on the interactions between energy and air pollution policies, scenario modeling, and impact assessment. He contributed to the development of the optimisation module of the Greenhouse Gas and Air Pollution Interactions and Synergies (GAINS) integrated assessment model, exploring the co-benefits and trade-offs of air pollution and greenhouse gas abatement options to identify cost-effective scenarios that meet predefined environmental or health objectives.
Samuel holds dual master’s degrees. He graduated in 2020 from the Free University of Brussels with a master’s degree in Chemical Engineering, where he developed methods for estimating food web fluxes. As part of his thesis he described the Vietnamese coastal ecosystem, laying the groundwork for enhanced fisheries management policies. He also holds a master’s degree in Piano Performance from the Royal Flemish Conservatory of Brussels, from which he graduated in 2020.
