Nazima Abidova is a Climate Finance and Policy Analyst in the Implementation Strategies Team at Climate Analytics, based in Berlin. Her work focuses on supporting governments in the implementation of their national climate commitments, particularly Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs). She develops monitoring, reporting, and verification (MRV) systems, sector-specific key performance indicators (KPIs), and implementation frameworks that translate national climate strategies into clear and actionable policy and investment plans.
Nazima is an experienced climate finance specialist with over seven years of professional experience across the financial and sustainability sectors. Before joining Climate Analytics, she worked in the consulting sector as a Global Climate Finance and Funding Specialist supporting international development projects across Africa. Her work focused on climate finance mobilisation, greenhouse gas (GHG) accounting, and environmental assessment of climate-related initiatives. She provided technical support for project preparation under the Green Climate Fund and supported environmental assessments for innovative energy and transport projects, while facilitating policy dialogue with government institutions and project stakeholders to strengthen climate finance readiness.
Originally from Kyrgyzstan, Nazima brings a multicultural perspective to her work, having collaborated with stakeholders across Europe, Africa, and Central Asia. She holds a Master’s degree in International Business and Sustainability and a Bachelor’s degree in Finance, with academic research focused on integrating financial analysis with GHG accounting methodologies such as Material Flow Cost Accounting (MFCA) and Life Cycle Assessment (LCA).
