Johannes supports the work of the Climate Action Tracker and the 1.5°C national pathway explorer with insights on climate finance.
He leads the development of a new methodology to assess countries on different aspects of climate finance for the Climate Action Tracker. He also contributes to the development of transport and power investment requirements for countries in the 1.5ºC national Pathway Explorer, and the general integration of climate finance in the tool.
Johannes recently worked at the TPI Centre at the London School of Economics where he co-developed the ASCOR framework that is used by sovereign bond investors to assess the management of climate change by countries. He has experience working for Theia Finance Labs (formerly 2°C Investing Initiative) where his work focused on sustainable finance and central banks. He also worked in the forecasting team at PwC and at the Institute for the World Economy researching carbon budgets and negative emissions.
Johannes is an economist by training and holds a B.Sc. in Economics (and Political Science) from the University of Cologne and a M.Sc. in Economics from the LMU in Munich.
