Dr Abhinav Bhaskar
Industrial Decarbonisation Analyst
Climate Policy Analysis

Abhinav is a mechanical engineer who works on industrial decarbonisation projects for the Climate Policy Team, with a special focus on energy intensive industries.
He has worked across industries in India, Germany and Norway for the past 15 years. Before joining Climate Analytics he was working as an independent consultant advising project developers on conceptual design and pre-feasibility analysis of hydrogen-based direct reduced iron plants.
He has worked as an international green steel expert for UNIDO, advising on adoption of hydrogen in Moroccan steel industry. He has previously worked with Aker Horizons as a senior analyst where he was involved in market assessment of hydrogen and hydrogen derivatives such as ammonia, methanol, green iron etc. and was involved in originating and developing projects in India, Oman, South Africa, Tunisia and Brazil. He has also worked with Rystad Energy as their head of hydrogen research.
Before moving to Norway, he worked at The Energy and Resources Institute (TERI) in New Delhi, where he was instrumental in setting up a Center of Excellence in Thermal Energy Storage for both low and medium temperature heat applications.
He has a masters degree from TU Berlin, Germany in Manufacturing Engineering and Master Label from Climate-KIC in Climate Entrepreneurship. He holds a doctoral degree from the University of Stavanger, Norway in "Techno-economic assessment of decarbonisation technologies for the steel industry".
