    Asher Siebert

    Asher is an applied climate scientist and physical geographer with about 15 years of experience and higher education in seasonal predictability, climate extremes analysis, adaptation to climate risks and climate-economy modeling.

    His role as Senior Scientist on Loss and Damage at Climate Analytics involves climate science, multidisciplinary analysis of climate-related loss and damage, multi-sector stakeholder engagement for climate adaptation, and climate finance. He is leading a project in St. Kitts and Nevis and also has advisory roles on several other projects involving small island developing states (SIDS) and least developed countries (LDCs).

    From 2016 to 2022, Asher worked at the International Research Institute for Climate and Society (IRI) at Columbia University Climate School on projects regarding seasonal forecasting for food security and forecast-based financing for anticipatory humanitarian responses. His primary responsibilities in this role were to make seasonal forecasts, train meteorologists from partner nations in Africa on forecast tools, develop educational curricula and conduct peer-reviewed research. He holds a PhD in Geography from Rutgers University, an MA in Climate and Society from Columbia University, and a BA in Geosciences from Princeton University and has held postdoctoral positions at Princeton and Columbia.
