Join us for the launch of a new report “Calculating the Loss and Damage Finance Gap: A Scoping and Feasibility Exercise”.
The United Nations Environment Programme reports annually on the mitigation gap (the gap between where global emissions are heading and where they ought to be to limit warming to 1.5°C) and on the adaptation gap (global progress on adaptation planning, financing, and implementation). However, no such report exists for loss and damage.
In this webinar, co-hosted with Germanwatch, the report authors will present their findings on how a loss and damage finance gap report could be produced.
The webinar will also:
- Discuss methodologies for assessing financial needs and identifying potential sources of data
- Examine the integration of slow-onset events, non-economic losses, and the importance of incorporating local insights
- Explore preliminary methods for calculating the Loss and Damage finance gap and consider the introduction of a specific financial marker for this purpose
