We are currently seeking a Team Leader for our multidisciplinary Climate Policy and Energy Transformation Team of 10-15 experts, mostly based in Berlin, with some based in other countries/CA offices.
The talented team is engaged with a large and exciting variety of projects, and continuously develops new research and applied policy projects in the areas mentioned above. In its work, which include the flagship project the Climate Action Tracker, the team has a major interest in energy-system transformation, coal and other fossil fuel phase-out at international, national, sub-national and sectoral levels, combining both qualitative and quantitative scientific and policy expertise, approaches, data and models. Examples of current and past projects are IMPACT and RIPPLES, coal phase-out studies at global and regional/country level. New projects build on these and earlier successful projects.
- Oversee and be responsible for the effective management of the team and its projects
- Oversee delivery on projects, guide prioritisation within the team, manage time and resources
- Coordinate team responsibilities and attribute tasks, synchronizing applications and research with political momentum and fast responses to demand from stakeholders and funders
- Facilitate and encourage collaboration within the team and other teams within the company
- Guide and/or lead fund-raising and grant writing activities
- Manage personnel development of team members
- Ensure scientific integrity and overall quality control, and review team outputs, in collaboration with the science director
- Guide and coordinate analysis of policy developments
- Maintain overview of scientific literature and data regarding future emissions, mitigation strategies, and technology and demand changes, including based on Integrated Assessment Models
- Guide development of existing and new methodologies and models
- Proven scientific and/or thought leadership skills in energy transformation and/or climate policy
- Solid understanding of quantitative energy and climate policy analysis, and ability to work with and help develop relevant models
- Outstanding management and organisational skills
- At least 10 years of relevant work experience at post-doc level, or at least 15 years after Master’s, with a graduate degree in climate-related studies, such as climate science, energy studies, social science, economics, or a related field
- Track record of inter-disciplinary work and a profound interest in understanding and addressing international, regional, national and sub-national challenges to climate change mitigation
- Solid track record in project and/or research grant acquisition
- Willingness to travel (required), flexibility
- A well-developed sense for team work and ability to interact with a diverse array of people
- Excellent English writing and verbal skills. Basic German skills are welcome but not required, other language skills are an asset
