Thessa joined the Science Team of Climate Analytics in 2020 as a Research Analyst focusing on climate risk and adaptation. She works on extreme weather events and the associated losses within the NGFS project.
Prior to joining Climate Analytics, she has gained experience on climate and disaster risk management with the Disaster Risk Reduction Section of the United Nations ESCAP in Thailand and at GIZ in Germany. During internships in Canada, Kenya and the Republic of Korea, she has gained research experience in the field of extreme weather and climate change within different focus areas.
Thessa has completed her Master’s degree in Climate Studies, majoring in Environmental Economics and Natural Resources, from Wageningen University in the Netherlands, and her Bachelor’s degree in Meteorology from the University of Hamburg in Germany. She spent the second year of her Master’s program at ETH Zürich in Switzerland where she contributed to the development of the climate adaptation model called CLIMADA, while bridging the gap between her physical risk and environmental economics background.
