As a Scientific Advisor to Climate Analytics, Delphine supports the Science team in the fields of climate impacts, vulnerability and adaptation, and works on strengthening the science-policy interface to support climate change vulnerability assessment and adaptation planning. She is particularly interested in improving dissemination and use of scientific information to inform stakeholders, policymakers and the general public.
Delphine coordinates the scientific work in the fields of climate impacts, vulnerability and adaptation conducted under the IMPACT project, including regional assessments of impacts of and vulnerability to climate change in West African LDCs and Caribbean and Pacific SIDS, identification and evaluation of adaptation options and costs, as well as analyses of residual impacts. In addition, she leads the conceptualisation, development, and application of regional vulnerability assessments for IMPACT and ensures synergies and consistencies between IMPACT and PAS-PNA approaches to vulnerability and risk. She further provides scientific guidance and support on topics related to food security, agriculture, and land cover and land use change (LCLUC) for other projects at Climate Analytics.
Delphine has worked in the field of climate change impacts and adaptation with a focus on agriculture, land use and food security since 2007; She holds a PhD in Environmental Sciences from the University of East Anglia, a Masters in Geography from McGill University and a Masters in High Energy Physics from the Université Paris Diderot. Delphine is the main developer of the global crop model PEGASUS and has led several analyses to quantify the impacts of climate change and the benefits adaptation has on global food production. She has also played a coordinating role in the global biophysical modelling activities of the Agricultural Modelling Intercomparison and Improvement Project (AgMIP) since 2012. Prior joining Climate Analytics in 2016, Delphine was a University of Chicago postdoc scholar based at the National Aeronautics and Space Administration Goddard Institute for Space Studies (NASA GISS) in New York. Having relocated to Berlin, she continues to work in close collaboration with the Climate Impacts Research group at NASA GISS and is currently an Adjunct Associate Research Scientist at the Earth Institute Center for Climate Systems Research at Columbia University.
Delphine has co-authored a large array of academic publications and has provided scientific support to international organisations, including the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), the Overseas Development Institute (ODI), the International Life Sciences Institute (ILSI) and the Centre for Agriculture and Biosciences International (CABI).
