René is writing his master’s thesis about sub-national contributions to the 1.5C target with Climate Analytics and supports the Climate Policy Team.

Prior joining Climate Analytics, René has been working as a consultant with Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ), focusing on the Implementation of Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs). Furthermore, he wrote about the UNFCCC climate negotiations as a freelance journalist for different media outlets.

René is currently enrolled in a master’s programme in Integrated Natural Resource Management at Humboldt-University of Berlin and holds a Bachelor’s degree in Energy and Environmental Management from the University of Applied Sciences Flensburg. As part of his studies he spent a semester each at Stellenbosch University (South Africa) and the Chinese Ocean University (Qingdao, China)
